Imagine Van Gogh
Immersive exhibition
A creation by Annabelle Mauger and Julien Baron
Presented by Tandem
Starting on December 5, Montreal will host a spectacular and immersive exhibition of the works of Vincent Van Gogh. The exhibition, presented by Paul Dupont-Hébert and Tandem, will be on display in a sprawling former shipyard that has been converted into Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal, located in the heart of Montreal’s Griffintown. It will take viewers on a unique journey inside the artist’s paintings.
Imagine Van Gogh has been called a mesmerizing emotional amplifier. Created by Annabelle Mauger and Julien Baron and centred on their desire to place technology at the service of art, the exhibition uses over 200 of Van Gogh’s works.
A unique exhibition in an ideal setting
The experience of walking among Van Gogh’s paintings is utterly extraordinary. Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal, situated at Notre-Dame and William, is the perfect location to fully appreciate the experience, with all the details, the brushstrokes and the colours that bring our senses to life.
Van Gogh: Immense and immortal
The Imagine Van Gogh exhibition highlights the work from the artist’s Arles period (1888/1889) to his death in 1890. These were exceptional years for Van Gogh, bringing out his talent and his torments in such iconic works as Sunflowers, Irises, Wheatfield with Crows and The Starry Night, but also his Japanese influences with the magnificent Almond Blossoms or his later The Church at Auvers. It also includes many of the portraits he painted during the same period, including his Self-Portraits, the Portrait of Dr. Gachet and La Mousmé. Imagine Van Gogh is accompanied by a musical soundtrack, with pieces selected to accentuate the works on display.
